Interventional Informatics Described: Interventional Informatics is focused on high risk, high value patient conditions that can be anticipated from online patient records stored in EMRs, PHRs, laboratory and other clinical systems.  Simple alerts are embedded in the client's clinical workflow and instead of interrupting the care givers, they are redirected to an off-floor remote informatics bunker and analyzed within the overall context of patient care by an MD-informaticist.   When evaluation reveals that potential harm is probable or improved evidence-based care is possible, the informaticist in the bunker works with the primary care givers to develop an appropriate intervention.
